US News and World Report has named Arizona State University (ASU) as the most innovative university in the US all four years the category has existed. In this seminar, Ms Ji Mi Choi, Associate Vice President of ASU, will give an overview of the university’s development, achievements and the vision behind the New American University model.
More precisely, Ms Choi will explain how innovation and entrepreneurship are integral parts of all activities at ASU. She will also address ASU’s efforts to promote diversity and the inclusion of students, partnerships with industry, and to enhance quality and output despite decreasing state funding.
Ms Ji Mi Choi serves as an Associate Vice President leading entrepreneurship and innovation utilizing her twenty-plus years of expertise in higher education at the intersection of entrepreneurial and public-private partnerships. Previously, Ms Choi served in various fast-paced and evolving roles at New York University: early in her career at the Interactive Telecommunications Program at the Tisch School of the Arts before new media was new media; later at the Polytechnic University (now the Tandon School of Engineering at NYU), first serving as the Chief of Staff to the President and Vice President for strategic initiatives, then later serving as the Senior Director of Integration, leading the merger between the two institutions; and subsequently serving as the Assistant Vice President for global programs planning.
Arizona State University has been a partner university in STINT’s Teaching Sabbatical Programme since 2018.
Please note that Ms Choi will be presenting through video conference link. Participants will have the opportunity of asking her questions, mingle and discuss internationalisation with other participants and staff from STINT.
