In a rapidly changing, geopolitically complex world, in which more countries are taking leading science and innovation positions, understanding global development through expert trend analysis and strategic on-site relationship building abroad becomes ever more important.

STINT has established a global network of on-site academic representatives on different continents to provide substantiated evidence and international perspectives in order to support Swedish higher education institutions’ strategic development. Their insights and local embeddedness facilitate deep contextual understanding of research policy trends, academic ecosystems, and strategic opportunities. These include science diplomacy, in which STINT acts as a national resource for promoting dialogue, cooperation, and confidence-building in the global knowledge system.

This seminar presents STINT’s Overseas Team, as representatives and bridge-builders for the Swedish knowledge system, as well as their contributions in the areas of expert analysis, evidence, and networks to support the internationalisation efforts of Swedish actors.

The seminar programme also highlights the profound changes and displacements currently taking place in the global science landscape, in which the focus of scientific development is shifting from the North Atlantic countries to the Pacific regions.

A panel comprising representatives from the Swedish knowledge system share their perspectives on the need for more expert trend analysis and strategic on-site relationship-building abroad to navigate this increasingly complex landscape.

The seminar concludes with a lunch reception during which participants have the opportunity to meet STINT’s Overseas Team and discuss possible future trends and strategic international cooperation.
