Dr Jacob Paulsen

Dr Jacob Silva Paulsen starts as a STINT Science Fellow in South America on 1 December 2025.
Dr Paulsen has been a Political and Economic Officer at the Embassy of Denmark in Brasília, Brazil, since 2024. Prior to this, he served as Science and Innovation Counsellor at the Embassy of Sweden in Brazil (2018–2023), where he gained extensive experience in research, innovation, and higher education cooperation. He has also held positions at FORMAS, the Swedish Research Council for Sustainable Development (2009–2012) and at Nordic Ecolabelling (2002–2009).
Dr Paulsen holds a PhD in Civil Engineering from KTH Royal Institute of Technology and the Technical University of Denmark. He was a Visiting Scientist at the University of Brasília (2012–2015) and has taught courses and delivered lectures on sustainability at several Brazilian universities. With over 14 years of professional experience in Brazil, his areas of interest include sustainable development, international cooperation, and science and innovation policy.
