To celebrate the 150-year anniversary of diplomatic relations between Sweden and Japan during 2018, STINT and the Swedish Foundation for Humanities and Social Sciences (RJ) launched a special call for applications. The call is also co-funded by the Swedish Research Council (VR).

The purpose of the call is to offer grants for the implementation of short-term projects targeting the initiation of new and strategically interesting international relationships in research and higher education between Sweden and Japan.

It was decided on the16th of February 2018, that STINT, The Swedish Foundation for Humanities and Social Sciences (RJ) and the Swedish Research Council (VR) will grant 1,7 MSEK to 12 projects within Sweden-Japan 150 Anniversary Grants. In total 71 applications were submitted.
