The impact study of STINT\u00b4s complete portfolio of activities 1994 \u2013 2015 indicates several positive consequences. The main part of STINT\u00b4s funding has been invested in research collaborations. A large share of the collaborations continues after the period of STINT funding on the same or an even larger scale. Moreover, the research collaborations within STINT\u00b4s priority countries have developed very strongly in a both quantitative and a qualitative direction.<\/p>\n
One aspect differentiating STINT from most funding bodies in the higher education system is that STINT not only addresses research but also higher education. In conclusion, the analysis demonstrates that the education-oriented activities, although limited, have been successful.
A recent evaluation of the main programme indicates several positive consequences, predominantly on an individual level among the participants. It also highlights an until now basically untapped potential for more systematic impacts of the programme. During the last couple of years, additional programmes targeting education have been launched.<\/p>\n
The basis for the impact analysis is mainly evaluations of STINT\u2019s programmes from different periods, interviews with STINT\u2019s founder, STINT\u2019s Executive Directors and the chairpersons of STINT\u2019s board. The impact study focuses on STINT\u2019s role in the development of internationalisation of Swedish higher education and research and summarizes all evaluations that have been carried out since the start.<\/p>\n
STINT was set up by the Swedish Government in 1994. Its mission is to internationalise Swedish higher education and research. From its inception and until 2015, STINT has invested 1,700 MSEK in scholarships and grants related to internationalisation of Swedish higher education and research.<\/p>\n
