STINT’s Board of Directors has decided to invest SEK 12 million in two projects as part of its 2026 Strategic Grants for Internationalisation programme.
The projects awarded funding are:
- HELIX – A Knowledge Ecosystem between Sweden and Brazil in Life Science and Health, led by Karolinska Institutet, which is awarded SEK 10 million
- AFRINOVA‑LU – African Innovation & Value Acceleration with Lund University, led by Lund University, which is awarded SEK 2 million
HELIX – A Knowledge Ecosystem between Sweden and Brazil in Life Science and Health
In this project, Karolinska Institutet (KI), Lund University (LU), and Halmstad University (HH) will establish a joint platform for collaboration between Sweden and Brazil in life science and health. The aim is to move beyond current fragmented, project-based forms of collaboration to a long-term, structured knowledge ecosystem for collaboration between academia, healthcare, business, and public actors. The project encompasses the establishment of joint governing structures and mobility programmes for researchers, as well as thematic collaboration in areas such as data-driven health and AI, clinical and translational research, and health resilience.
AFRINOVA LU – African Innovation & Value Acceleration with Lund University
Through this project, Lund University will continue further development of a long-term partnership with AUDA‑NEPAD, the African Union Development Agency. The aim is to create an institutionally embedded platform for collaboration in science, technology and innovation (STI) that integrates research, education, innovation, and policy. The collaboration includes training for decision-makers, research mobility, and the development of joint research- and innovation initiatives, with the objective of strengthening evidence-based decision-making and building long-term capacity in the African innovation system.
