Här följer en kort presentation av de stipendiatersom påbörjade sin utbildning i Sverige 2008.
My name is Celeste Cantú Alejandro. I am from Reynosa, a city in the northeastern Mexican border. I studied Electronics and Communications at the Tecnológico de Monterrey and graduated in December 2007. Throughout my formation, my primary focus has been on telecommunications, and I have acquired a technical background on the subject thanks to both my bachelor’s degree and my working experience. However, I was always interested in gaining a business perspective that could complement my studies in order to generate viable technology solutions for Mexico. The Media Management master’s program at KTH and SSE provides this balance between business focus and technical knowledge and benefits from a great environment like Sweden where media and telecommunications are deeply ingrained in people’s everyday lives. I intend to submerge myself as much as possible into this experience and in the future fulfill my main objective: contribute to the technological development of my country by addressing its needs and understanding its conditions and limitations.
My name is Cui Yuzhu. I come from Changchun in Jilin Province, in the northeastern China. I studied Film Editing & Directing and philosophy as double major in Peking University from 2004 to 2008. Now I am studying Visual Culture in Faculty of Humanities and Theology of Lund University. Thanks to STINT Foundation, Sweden, Ingmar Bergman’s homeland comes into my school life with beauty and fantasy. Visual Culture, a comprehensive subject, includes not only culture studies, but a combination with art, media, philosophy, anthropology and so on. It has been my sincere wish and honor to contribute to Film Study and Chinese Film History of this emerging field and to the cross-cultural communication between Sweden and China as a member of Visual Culture in the near future.
My name is Ernesto Velázquez, and I come from Mazatlán, a port city on the west coast of Mexico. Before coming to Sweden, I studied Engineering Physics as my Bachelor’s Degree at Tecnológico de Monterrey, where I realized I wanted to direct my professional career towards renewable energy. Now I am studying a Master’s Degree in Sustainable Energy Engineering at KTH Royal Institute of Technology in the beautiful city of Stockholm, as well as a specialization program in Solar Energy at Högskolan Dalarna in Borlänge, a small town north of the Swedish capital. The topic of sustainable development has gained considerable interest in recent years, and one of the major parts of the puzzle towards a sustainable society is represented by the way we obtain the energy that we use in our everyday lives. The associated potential of change of this area is quite significant, since every decision we adopt and any action we undertake as a society have long-term consequences as well as a wide impact. This is one of the main reasons why I have chosen to specialize in this area of work. I believe that extensive work is needed to modify the way our society has attained progress since the industrial revolution, and that is why I have decided to engage not only as a citizen of the world, but as a professional engineer, in order to make a difference. I personally believe the postgraduate program I am undertaking in Sweden, mainly thanks to the support of STINT, will give me the knowledge and tools that will assist me in this project of life.
¡Hola! My name is Gabriela Mercado and I come from Monterrey, a big city in the north of México. There, I graduated in December 2007 as a bachelor in Spanish Literature from Tecnológico de Monterrey. As well, I had the privilege to work as a research assistant for the Research Fund “Cátedra de Literatura Latinoamerica” in my University and as a High School Literature teacher. In Sweden I continue studying what I like the most: literature, language and culture. I am now pursuing a Master in Language and Culture in Europe at Linköpings Universitet. Besides being a beautiful country, Sweden is also a place where I’ve been able to experience different cultural backgrounds and different approaches to humanities, in such a way that every day is a learning experience. It is my desire to learn as much as possible from this time in order to develop my research and analysis skills, so that I can one day do academic research in the interrelation between European and American cultures through the common share of language and literature.
My name is Gao Ya. I'm from Beijing, the capital of China. In the past four years, I studied Artificial Intelligence and Statistics in Peking University. Now, under the funding of STINT, I am a master student of KTH majoring in Software Engineering of Distributed Systems. I really enjoy my studies in Sweden because of the distinguished courses on computer science and engineering for a wide range of applications. With the advances in computing and communication over networks, the technologies such as artificial intelligence and distributed systems would change our life revolutionarily. I hope I can acquire the key of the future's information technology here and become an outstanding professional in this field.
My name is Guo Songxi, and I received my bachelor degree from the department of biological sciences and biotechnology in Tsinghua University in China. I was born in Beijing, the capital of China and also grown up there. I am now studying applied biotechnology at Uppsala University. Nowadays a lot of changes in our daily life have been brought up by modern biotechnology, such as fermentation industry, artificial organisms, vaccines and medical apparatus. As a student with background in both biology and engineering, I hope to apply the knowledge I learnt from the class into the practical in the future and help the development of biotech industry in China.
My name is Hoon Jang. I am from South Korea. I graduated in physics at KAIST. I am now studying Applied physics(MSc) at KTH, and also studying in the quantum optics group at Stockholm University for PhD. I will develop creative spirits, knowledge and audacity during the studies in Sweden. I am interested in both basic and applied researches. Working globally, I am very glad that I will have strong and great connections with many people in Sweden.
I am Zhang Lili, from China, and presently studying European Business Law in Lund University. Graduated from Peking University, where I got my bachelor degree of law as well as a dual degree in economics, I chose EU Business Law as my further field of study. The world's economy calls for an increasing awareness of the legal framework in a global environment. China and the EU are close trade partners and it is thus more important to strengthen the cooperation between China and the EU, intensify their mutual understandings. I hope that I can devoted myself to this cause and believe that fighting through the winter, cooperation will finally lead to the world's economic prosperity.
My name is Weizhou Peng. I come from the southern province of Guangdong in China. I graduated from Tsinghua University in Beijing with a degree of Bachelor of Architecture in 2008 and was offered the STINT scholarship for my study in Sweden. I’m now a master student in the program of Urban Planning and Design in the School of Architecture, KTH. The last six months’ study in Stockholm has proved that my choice of coming to Sweden is absolutely wise! Not only that the program of Urban Planning and Design at KTH is one of very high standards and quality, but also that living in the most beautiful city Stockholm with a very strong tradition of urban design is just wonderful for an architecture student like me. I really learnt a lot, from the lectures, studios, seminars, assignments, presentations and also my everyday life in Stockholm! Urban planning and design process is very crucial for a city to maintain a diverse and lively urban life. And nowadays both the environmental concern and the complexity of different stakeholders and their interests add more issues to the discipline and push it towards a more sustainable and deliberative direction. I believe that after my study in Sweden, I can act as a more professional urban designer to deal with the developmental and environmental issues in the rapid urbanization process of Chinese cities. And finally, I want to once again express my appreciation of the offering of such wonderful opportunities for our study in Sweden by the STINT foundation.
My name is Xing Xiaoyuan and I come from Liaoning Province, the northeastern part of China. I achieved my B.S.degree in Automation in Tsinghua University, Beijing in 2008. Now I am studying in Production Engineering and Management in KTH, Sweden, with the fund of STINT scholarship. I have an academic interest in quality control in production, which is important for the industry in China. As Swedish industry has a well-developed system for quality control, I hope I can gain more professional knowledge during my master study here. I am going to join this industrial field as an engineer in the future. Moreover, I would like to make some contributions to cultural communication between my motherland and Sweden.
I am Yaw Sasu-Boakye, from Ghana. For my bachelor’s degree, I studied Agricultural Engineering in the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST), Ghana. I am studying Energy and Environmental Engineering in Linkoping University. I chose to study in Linkoping partly because it is a location for many industries that work with energy and environment. I hope that through our many industrial visits I would be able to acquire practical experiences of what we study about district heating networks, waste management systems, biofuel plants and energy generation plants. I like the city too because it is not so big and busy and it is easy to move around even on bicycles. It is interesting to be in a class of multi-nationals, learning to share ideas and working together in groups. The faculty and research facilities available make the learning process fascinating. With such a conducive environment, I am earnestly looking forward to working on a thesis related to renewable energy utilisation. After this masters course, I would want to pursue a PhD in a related discipline and later return to assist in developing the energy and environmental systems in Ghana.
