STINT has introduced a new programme – STINT Institutional Grants for Younger Researchers – in order to expand the opportunities for especially promising young researchers to collaborate with prominent foreign research groups.
The programme is aimed at young researchers who early on in their career – not more than seven years after completing their PhD – wish to build up international cooperation with foreign colleagues in a similar position. The intention with this programme is to help to create more attractive Swedish research environments and allow for younger researchers to develop lasting international networks.
The basis of collaborations under this programme is a joint research project. The form of the collaboration should be exchange visits - longer or shorter stays at the partners institutions. Projects must be institutionally based and include persons on different levels, for example PhD candidates, postdoctoral researchers and university teachers. It is important that this exchange is not limited to a few individuals or to particular categories of researchers or academic staff.
Although the emphasis is on research cooperation it is encouraged that the researchers engaged in the exchange teach as well. Seminars and workshops, joint courses, summer schools and similar activities may be arranged as part of the project. The project leader and his or her counterpart at the foreign institution will have generous scope when deciding on the appropriate forms for their collaboration.
