China Manager – a new expert role with programme responsibility

An exciting opportunity to work with Sino-Swedish relations in higher education and research.

Due to STINT’s successful launch of the bilateral China-Sweden programme, STINT is expanding its focus on China. To realise this expansion, STINT is now hiring a China Manager.

The role of the China Manager will be to increase our understanding of the development of the Chinese higher education and research system, and thus help strengthen the strategies and activities of Swedish universities. Moreover, the China Manager should develop networks and deliver knowledge and competence to Swedish universities and funding organisations relating to the development of higher education and research in China.

The post will involve extensive travel to China to establish contacts and identify and create networks with Chinese stakeholders in higher education and research, as well as abundant contact with relevant Swedish actors. The post also encompasses management of STINT’s bilateral China programme.

You should have a research background, preferably a Ph.D. degree, and be an energetic person with an interest in research and higher education systems, as well as international academic cooperation. You should know Chinese and Swedish and be fluent in English. You should also have an understanding and experience of the Swedish higher education system. An existing network within, and experience of, the Chinese higher education and research system is desirable.

The position requires an ability to take initiatives and work independently.

Our organisation is open and dynamic, which is necessary in our role as a change agent in the Swedish higher education system. We are a growing team of seven people and our office is located on Mäster Samuelsgatan in central Stockholm.

Sweden has three international universities in the top category

STINT Internationalisation Index indicates how international the universities in Sweden are. This year three universities are in the top category of internationalisation. Last year´s prize winner Stockholm School of Economics is now accompanied by Chalmers and KTH.
